Food Tips
Try using plain or vanilla yogurt with your favorite preserves
Sometimes, the simplest things turn out to be the tastiest. Take yogurt for example.
How often have you stood in the dairy section staring at the endless array of yogurts.
*Should you go for the bargain brand? *How about the one that claims to have the best of what your body really needs?
Maybe you've narrowed it down to a particular brand, only to realize that they don't have any of the flavors you were wanting.
Well, try this nifty little idea. Select a base flavor in a brand that you like; say vanilla or plain. Then just mosey on over to the jams and preserves aisle. Choose a small jar of your favorite preserve.
(I love blackberries and raspberries)
All you need to add is a spoonful or so to a 1/4 cup of yogurt and enjoy. Not only can you create the flavors that you crave, you can do it economically. Since jams, jellies and preserves can last for months in your refrigerator, you can stock up on all your favorites and always have fresh tasting yogurt.
This is also a great way to conceal the taste of less appealing sugar-free/healthy varieties of preserves. Just don't forget to experiment. You never know what could become the next best flavor!
